BIO

Lisa is a single, adventurous, 30 something woman whose initial inspiration for aviation was her mom.  When Lisa was a young age, her mom became a flight attendant.  Lisa had the privilege of going on several of her mom's overnights as she grew up, and she was hooked on traveling!  Though her mom was an amazing flight attendant, Lisa knew she wanted to take  a slightly different path, so she pursued being a pilot.

Lisa decided the military was the way to go to start her flying career. After high school, she attended the United States Air Force Academy where she earned her commission in 2006. She attended Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT) at Laughlin Air Force Base, and earned her wings in 2008. Lisa then went on to fly the venerable C-17 Globemaster III until 2012. While stationed at McChord Air Force Base, she became an Instructor Pilot and Airdrop Aircraft Commander. Following that assignment, she moved on to teach in the T-1 Jayhawk as a SUPT instructor at Columbus Air Force Base. Though she was having a blast as an Air Force Instructor Pilot, she decided to leave the military in 2014 to pursue an aviation career in the airline industry. Lisa has over 3400 hours total, 200+ combat sorties in multiple theaters, and is currently a First Officer on A319's and A320's for Delta Air Lines, based out of Atlanta.

In her free time, Lisa volunteers for the American Cancer Society's "Road to Recovery" program and other various community organizations around the Atlanta area.  She is involved in her church as a substitute teacher for children's church.  She has also been on a church mission trip to Costa Rica and plans to return later this year.  She is excited to compete in her first air race classic and is looking forward to the challenge and camaraderie the race will give her with other lady pilots from various backgrounds!

A Note From Lisa

I really don't need to add to Liz's awesome description

of how we met, became friends, and ultimately joined

up to become Team Amelia's Aviatrices.  I can just say

that meeting her in Columbus and being introduced to

general aviation flying was such a refreshing change of

pace compared to the flying I was used to.  I am so

inspired by her and how she overcame a lot of obstacles

to continue pursuing her dreams to be a pilot.  Her

resilience and dedication is amazing, and she embodies

the goals of this race.  I'm excited to copilot her aircraft

in this race, and I couldn't have asked for a better

teammate.  Together, I hope we can challenge each other

to be better pilots, and work together to be safe and just

have fun!  We are proof that, regardless of how someone

gets to this level of aviation, hard work is worth the effort!
