So you may be wondering what exacty is this Air Race Classic thing?
Quick Overview: The Air Race Classic (ARC) is an all female, daylight hours, Visual Flight Rules (VFR), general aviation flying cross country race. Teams must consist of at least a rated pilot and co-pilot with the option of adding team members. Many different types of aircraft are flown in the race. Each year the ARC committee determines a different route usually within the United States, but sometimes the routes include stops and flyovers in other countries. It is a test of teamwork, pilot skill, pilotage, understanding the weather and winds and how to work them in your favor, max performance of the aircraft and crew.
2016 Dates: June 21-24, 2016. However, planning, organizing, handicap flights, and aircraft inspections occur months and days before the race. Plus it may take a ferry flight to position the aircraft and crew at the race start. For us, this may add about a week to the actual race dates and a few days after the race terminus.
